Vocal Exercise - What-a-to-do

This vocal exercise will help with voice pronunciation (phonetic sounds) and breathing (duration). The objective is to say the phrase in one breath, without rushing, in about 20 seconds.

The phrase is shown below. You can also hear an example by clicking the play icon.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

What a to-do to die today
at a minute or two to two

A thing distinctly hard to say
yet harder still to do

For they’ll beat a tattoo
at twenty-to-two

A ra-ta-ta
ta-ta-ta
ta-ta-ta-too

And the dragon will come
at the sound of a drum

At a minute or two to two today
At a minute or two to two
