Fortunately, by <em>un-checking<\/em> a few boxes, you can make all of your presentations run smoothly.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Setting the <em>software<\/em> OPTIONS in PowerPoint is a <strong>one-time task<\/strong>, so you don&#8217;t have to do this for <em>every<\/em> single presentation (unlike the SETUP SHOW options, which must be done for each presentation). The process is simple, the choices are the same, but there is slight difference as to <em>where<\/em> these options can be found in\u00a0PowerPoint 2007 and earlier versions. Two screen shots are shown below, one for PowerPoint 2007 and the other for PowerPoint 2003 (similar to earlier versions, as well).<\/p>\n<p>If you are using <strong>PowerPoint 2007<\/strong>, click the OFFICE BUTTON in the upper left corner to open the office menu, and select the POWERPOINT OPTIONS button at the bottom of the menu dialog. Pull down the <strong>TOOLS MENU<\/strong> and choose <strong>Options&#8230;<\/strong> (the last item on the pull-down menu) to display the dialog.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shown below is the <strong>PowerPoint 2003 Options<\/strong> dialog, with the <em>View tab<\/em> open, and\u00a0a highlight box\u00a0annotating the <strong>Slide Show<\/strong> viewing choices.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_679\" style=\"width: 381px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-679\" class=\"size-full wp-image-679 \" title=\"P-2003-Slide-Viewing-Options\" src=\"http:\/\/medianet-ny.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/ppt-2003-options-boxed.jpg\" alt=\"PowerPoint 2003 Options with Slide Show section highlighted\" width=\"371\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"http:\/\/medianet-ny.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/ppt-2003-options-boxed.jpg 371w, http:\/\/medianet-ny.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/ppt-2003-options-boxed-258x300.jpg 258w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 371px) 100vw, 371px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-679\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">PowerPoint 2003 Options with Slide Show section highlighted<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>Clearing the Choices<\/h3>\n<p>Regardless of which version of PowerPoint you are using, the <em>four choices<\/em> in the Slide show section are the same (just not listed in the same order). <strong>UNCHECK<\/strong> (clear) all of these boxes to\u00a0improve\u00a0\u00a0the viewing of your presentations.<\/p>\n<p>Each option is explained, as follows:<strong><strong><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-684 alignright\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff; border: none\" title=\"ppt-right-mouse-menu\" src=\"http:\/\/medianet-ny.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/ppt-right-mouse-menu.jpg\" alt=\"ppt-right-mouse-menu\" width=\"141\" height=\"219\" \/><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Show menu on right mouse click<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Clear this option <\/em>to avoid having\u00a0a \u201cmenu\u201d (like the one on the right) appear whenever the <em>right<\/em> mouse button\u00a0is clicked during your slide show.<\/p>\n<p>With this option is disabled (unchecked), a right mouse click will simply navigate to the <em>previous slide<\/em>, just as a left mouse click moves to the<em> next<\/em> slide.<\/p>\n<p>It is a distraction to have this menu appear\u00a0with a right mouse click for the purpose of navigating to the previous slide.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Show popup toolbar<\/strong><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-685 alignleft\" title=\"ppt-popup-toolbar\" src=\"http:\/\/medianet-ny.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/ppt-popup-toolbar.jpg\" alt=\"ppt-popup-toolbar\" width=\"135\" height=\"28\" \/><\/strong><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-686 alignleft\" title=\"ppt-popup-toolbar-selection\" src=\"http:\/\/medianet-ny.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/ppt-popup-toolbar-selection.jpg\" alt=\"ppt-popup-toolbar-selection\" width=\"135\" height=\"28\" \/><\/em><br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Clear this\u00a0option<\/em> to avoid having these four\u00a0<strong>transparent navigation buttons<\/strong> (which highlight when selected)\u00a0appear\u00a0at the bottom-left of your\u00a0screen whenever you move your mouse pointer onto a slide.<\/p>\n<p><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<strong>Prompt to keep ink annotations when exiting<\/strong><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-689\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff; border: none\" title=\"ppt-keep-annotations-box\" src=\"http:\/\/medianet-ny.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/ppt-keep-annotations-box.jpg\" alt=\"ppt-keep-annotations-box\" width=\"300\" height=\"119\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Clear this option<\/em> to avoid having an <strong>alert box<\/strong> appear at the end of your presentation asking you if you want to keep any <em>annotations<\/em> (writing or highlighting)\u00a0that you may have made on your slides.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Usually these annotations are easier to make if you have the <em>popup toolbar option checked <\/em>so you can select the <em>pen-like\u00a0icon<\/em>\u00a0on the toolbar\u00a0to\u00a0make your\u00a0annotations.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>End with black slide<\/strong> &#8211; <em>clear this option<\/em> to avoid having a black slide appear as the last image of your show,\u00a0 displaying the phrase <strong>\u201cEnd of slide show, click to exit\u201d<\/strong> in a very small\u00a0font at the top\u00a0of the image.
